Low Key photos in Thursday

I realized that now I am at the dark side. Yea, dark side of photography of course ;) I have made many shoots in dark style or tone - low key style. It is called a "low key" photography style. Especially portraits but not only. Anyway, many people shoots such a low-key style photos so it was a good time to tag them all and create a Google+ search group to manage ring and circle.

It is like a year seasons. Comes and flows. From time to time it changes. Style. Photography style. Your current vision of things, persons, all that jazz that surrounds us. Everybody follows that.

J.R.R.Tolkien's sentence describes it perfectly:
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

I named it ,,Low Key in Thursday'' and will curate this photography ring and circle so feel free to tag Your low-key photographs in Thursday with #LowKeyThursday and search G+ for it.

Just have a look at Low Key Photography at Google+ web page and follow that path, Luke ;-)

Now, let's look at histogram of a photo:
~ when top most of pixels are on the very left side - there we have a mostly dark shoot with only visible main subject so it is low-key photo style
~ when we have top most pixels on right side then it is very light shoot so it is high-key photo style

Read more at Wikipedia here Low-key lighting or High-key lighting also You should look and read about Chiaroscuro lighting and painting style.

There is an article "The Light vs. The Dark" on the jpegmag.com with a good examples of low-key and high-key black&white photos so look at it: Part 1 and Part 2 but of course not only B/W shoots can be in low-key or high-key style.

Now let's go to rule them all... ;-)
